Locutions is the long awaited debut album from electric bass virtuoso rich brown and his band rinsethealgorithm. brown put the band together in the summer of 2004. His aim was to explore the relationship between traditional and contemporary forms of Jazz combined with various genres and sub-genres of modern black music (funk, Rn’B, hip-hop, nu-jazz, broken beat). The result of this amalgamation of musical ideas is a fresh new sound that combines sophisticated harmonic and melodic concepts with a heavily groove oriented rhythmic base. This vision is fully realized not just compositionally, but musically with the help of the master musicians featured on Locutions.

Track Name: Soothe the Machinery feat. Yvette Tollar
words by rich brown

Turn the hourglass before it runs
Cheating the time we have left
A day away from eternity
Cultivate the wheels of progress
Turning of a raging tide

Darker shades to the Blue & Green
Drink as the ice melts away
Take heed the lessons of wind and sea
Consequence of feeding wild wolves

And as the skies cry
Watch them soothe machinery
Try to turn back the hands of time
World keeps turning turning
I hear the wind sigh
It’s a haunting melody
As machines suffocate the trees
we keep moving moving on…
